Yuri Berchiche was born in the Basque city of Zarautz to an Algerian father and a Basque mother. He attended the famous youth academy Antiguoko at a young age and eventually joined Real Sociedad’s system in 2004. After just one year he left for Lezama where he spent two years until signing with Tottenham. Berchiche had three loan spells and never actually featured for Tottenham before making a permanent return to Spain when he was signed by Real Unión in 2010. Two years later he made the move to Real Sociedad where he spent the first two season on loan with Eibar before becoming a star at the Anoeta. In the summer of 2017 he was signed by PSG and one year later he finally made his return to Athletic Club when he signed a four-year contract with the Lions.
Yuri Berchiche is under contract through 2022 and his deal contains a €100 million release clause.
