Kenan Kodro was born in the Basque city of Donosti while his father, Meho Kodro, was playing for Real Sociedad. Kenan would begin his football development at Antiguoko before joining the Real Sociedad academy. He was never able to reach the first team and signed with Osasuna in 2014 where he scored 15 goals in 88 matches before leaving for Mainz in 2017. Like his father, Kenan has played at the international level with Bosnia and Herzegovina and most recently represented Copenhagen before he was signed by Athletic on the final day of the transfer window on 31 January, 2019. The deal was for an undisclosed fee, believed to be just under €1 million.
Kenan Kodro is under contract through 2022 and his deal contains an €80 million release clause.
