Yeray And Peru Nolaskoain Ruled Out For Eibar Match With Muscle Injuries

Yeray will miss Sunday’s Basque Derby with a muscle injury (AC)

Yeray has been in a race for fitness ahead of Sunday’s trip to Ipurua. The defender came off injured in last Friday’s friendly against Sevilla, but managed to return to training on Tuesday. All signs points to Yeray being able to play in the upcoming Basque Derby, but that won’t be the case.

On Friday the club released a medical report which revealed that Yeray has a mild-moderate adductor injury in his right leg. The 25-year-old has been ruled out for the Eibar match. With Yeray unavailable, Unai Núñez will start alongside Iñigo Martinez in defense.

In addition, the medial report also explained that Peru Nolaskoain left training early on Friday with an adductor injury as well. The 21-year-old will also miss the visit to Ipurua and is set to undergo medical tests to determine the severity of the injury.

Following the 2-0 loss to Granada in the season opener, Athletic need a win over Eibar to start climbing the table. The team has had the last two weeks to prepare for the Derby and hope to return to Bilbao with all three points.
