Yeray Returns To Normal Training Ahead Of Eibar Clash

Yeray was back in training on Tuesday (AC)

Gaizka Garitano offered a bit of positivity after Yeray left Friday’s friendly early with a muscle injury. “Let’s wait and see what Yeray’s situation is, I don’t think the injury is very serious,” the Mister told reporters. However, there was both good news and bad news when the team resumed training at Lezama on Monday.

Yeray trained separately from the group, but the fact that he was cleared to run indicated that the injury wasn’t serious. At the time it seemed as though Yeray would likely miss Friday’s trip to Eibar with Unai Núñez taking his place in the lineup. That may no longer be the case as Yeray returned to full training on Tuesday. Barring any unforeseen issues, Yeray should play the Basque Derby at Ipurua.

Eibar’s press gives Athletic problems every time the two meet. In preparation for the clash, Garitano spent most of Tuesday’s training with the team split into two groups. Defenders and midfielders worked on possession and playing the ball out the back, while forwards went through shooting drills. Following the loss to Granada two weeks ago Athletic need to come away from Ipurua with all three points to start climbing the table.
