CD Basconia Schedule 6 Preseason Friendlies

Patxi Salinas led Basconia to a top four finish last season (AC)

Basconia enjoyed an immensely successful season last year under new manager Patxi Salinas. The former Athletic defender brought structure and a system that pulled the best out of the entire squad. In fact, Basconia exceeded expectations by finishing fourth in the table and qualified for the promotional playoffs.

The Basauritarras may have been eliminated in the first round of the playoffs, but there’s hope for another top four finish this year. With several players promoted to Bilbao Athletic, the Basconia squad looks quite different. New signings joined the club over the summer, along with 13 players taking the step up from Juvenil A. Preparing the team for the new campaign will be a challenge.

Basconia began preseason training a few weeks ago and, with the new season is set to kick off on 17 October, Salinas has a little over a month left to get the team ready. On Sunday the club announced that Basconia will play six friendlies this summer, starting with a game against Balmaseda on Wednesday at Lezama.

Following the first friendly Basconia will also play games against Laredo (19/9), Aurrera Ondarroa (23/9), Tudelano (26/9), Oyonesa (3/10), and Racing B (10/10). Having so many new players in the team makes these summer friendlies crucial to preparing for the new season. Qualifying for the promotional playoffs would be another massive success, though the top priority remains getting players ready to move up to Bilbao Athletic.
