After two years of struggling to recover from a serious knee injury, Aitor Seguín is fully recovered and looking ahead to the future. The left-footed winger made his return back in November during a friendly with CD Basconia, but needed to leave out on loan in order to have regular minutes. Seguín joined Barakaldo in January where he was able to finally enjoy football again.

Before the pandemic Seguín registered four assists with Barakaldo in just seven games. The 25-year-old showed flashes of the quality that once made him a top prospect at Lezama but needs to continue having consistent playing time to get back to his best level of football.

On Friday Athletic announced that Seguín has signed a renewal with the club through the upcoming season and has been sent back to Barakaldo on loan for the season. Barakaldo manager Aitor Larrazabal was impressed with Seguín’s performances and wanted to keep him in the team. By returning to Barakaldo, Aitor Seguín will reunite with former teammates Hodei Oleaga and Jurgi Oteo while also having the opportunity to play a full season of competitive football.
