Athletic Club Rule Out Loan Move For Unai Vencedor

Unai Vencedor will split time between the first team and Bilbao Athletic (AC)

As one of the top young players at Athletic, Unai Vencedor is destined for big things. The 19-year-old has been sensational in his two years with Bilbao Athletic and will be given the chance to compete for a first team role this summer. Vencedor already made his debut last season against Osasuna, but is now determined to earn a permanent place in the squad.

The departures of long-time veterans Mikel San José and Beñat have opened up room in the team. Athletic will need other midfielders to take their places and Vencedor could be the perfect option. However, a place in the side isn’t guaranteed.

Several clubs from the Segunda have been keeping a close eye on Vencedor in hopes of signing the starlet on loan for the upcoming season. Vencedor needs to play regular minutes to continue developing and Athletic have a plan to make sure he gets consistent playing time.

According to a report from Juanma Velasco of Marca, Athletic have already ruled out sending Vencedor on loan. Instead, the Bilbao native will follow a plan similar to that of Oihan Sancet last season. Vencedor will train with the first team every day, but when he’s not needed he will play with Bilbao Athletic. As the season progresses he will likely take on a more important role in Gaizka Garitano’s side.

Having Vencedor available to the first team is very important for Athletic, but so is giving the teenager regular minutes. Splitting time with Bilbao Athletic is viewed as the best way to manage Unai Vencedor in the upcoming year as he transitions to Primera football and takes his first steps towards becoming a key player for the Zurigorri.
