Being the younger brother of Iñaki Williams comes with lofty expectations. Like his older brother, Nico Williams has shown tremendous potential during his time with Lezama and has been one of the most impressive players for the Juvenil A team this season. In addition to scoring 6 goals, and providing many assists, Williams has also made three appearances for Basconia.

Social media has become more popular than ever before given the current health crisis and Williams recently took time to answer questions on his Instagram page where he was asked about his biggest goals in football. “My greatest dream is to debut with the first team and to be able to debut at San Mamés,” he answered. “Besides debuting, my dream is to be able to play with my brother.”

The 17-year-old also talked about the importance of his family. “I’m devoted to my family and they make me stronger,” he said. The Williams family immigrated to the Basque Country before the boys were born which has helped to shape Iñaki and Nico’s outlook on life. “I have a desire to overcome barriers in football,” Nico continued.

Williams also analyzed himself as a player in both strengths and personality. “I started playing football when I was four or five, not seriously until I was six. As a player I’m hungry and electric. My main qualities? I’d say they are speed and dribbling.” The starlet was then asked who is his favorite football player and answered PSG’s Kylian Mbappé who plays a similar style of football.

Nico Williams won’t turn 18 until July but is already showing signs that his first team debut may not be far off. Following the incredible performances from this season the young forward will be promoted next year and is expected to make the jump straight to Bilbao Athletic.
