Joseba Etxeberria made his debut as manager of Bilbao Athletic on Friday as the Kumeak defeated Amorebieta 4-2 in a friendly at Lezama. Newly promoted striker Ewan Urain opened up the scoring with a header after just 5 minutes and added a second just three minutes later. Jon Morcillo then missed a penalty but made it up for it with a goal from open play in the 20th minute.
Amorebieta struck back in the 40th minute with a goal from Ekaitz Molina before the managers changed up the lineups to start the second half. Bilbao Athletic defender Oier Luengo added a fourth goal from a corner kick in the 61st minute. The visitors were able to pull another goal back with a penalty from Mikel Álvaro before the final whistle.
The Katxorros looked strong in their first game of the preseason and will be looking to build on the momentum as the summer continues. Bilbao Athletic will be back in action on Tuesday when they host Arenas Club at Lezama and will kick off their league season on 25 August with a trip to Haro Deportivo.
