Óscar de Marcos Leaves Training With Ankle Soreness

Óscar de Marcos has been ruled out of Thursday’s match with ankle soreness (AC)

Athletic completed the last training session on Wednesday evening ahead of Thursday’s match against Cadíz. The Lions will finally play their first game of the season at San Mamés and look to build on the big win over Eibar. Unfortunately, the team will be without a few players.

Once again Yeray and Peru Nolaskoain will be unavailable as the pair continues recovering from muscle injuries. Ibai Gómez will miss out as well, having yet to play a game this year after suffering a clavicle fracture during preseason.

Óscar de Marcos will also be sidelined for the game with an ankle issue. The 31-year-old left training early with soreness in his left ankle and was dropped from the squad. Aitor Paredes took his place and could have a chance to make his debut against Cadíz.

Further tests will be conducted in the coming days to determine the severity of the injury and just how long De Marcos will be out of action. The hope is that it isn’t anything significant. However, the situation is concerning given that Óscar De Marcos underwent surgery on the same ankle back in December.
