Jon Sillero “Numancia Is A Great Team That Aspires To Go Up”

Jon Sillero is excited to spend the season on loan with Numancia (AC)

This season Jon Sillero will get his first experience of life outside the Basque Country. After signing a new contract with Athletic yesterday, the former Bilbao Athletic captain has joined Numancia on loan with hopes of taking another step forward in his career. In what will be his first experience outside the Basque Country, the 22-year-old has the chance to prove himself and fight for a place in the first team next year.

“Numancia is a great team that aspires to go up,” Sillero said during his presentation on Tuesday. “It’s a very exciting project. There are many new players here this year and we must make a good group. We aspire for everything. We have to go up to the Segunda, which is where this team deserves to be.”

Sillero grew up playing right-back, but transitioned to center-back in recent years. “I consider myself a versatile player,” he answered when asked to describe himself. “I have defensive rigor and can play the ball.” Jon Sillero made 96 appearances with Bilbao Athletic over the past four years while also earning the captain’s armband.
