Bilbao Athletic Lose 2-0 To Burgos In Third Preseason Friendly

Bilbao Athletic have been excellent in the opening preseason friendlies. The Kumeak defeated Santurtzi and Gernika without conceding a single goal and with several key players not in the team. On Saturday Bilbao Athletic traveled to Burgos for the third match of the summer in what would be a challenging game at Estadio El Plantío.
Burgos struck early, scoring the opening goal in the 7th minute. Raúl Navarro’s strike from outside the box gave the hosts an early lead while Bilbao Athletic struggled to create much of anything going forward. Iago Faria chipped Ander Iru in the 77th minute to hand Bilbao Athletic a disappointing 2-0 loss.
Despite the defeat, it’s been an impressive preseason for Bilbao Athletic as a whole. With many new players in the squad Joseba Etxeberria has the team poised to compete for another top four finish and trip to the promotional playoffs. Bilbao Athletic will be back in action on Wednesday with a trip to Racing.
