Gorka Guruzeta Reportedly Joining Fuenlabrada On Loan

Gorka Guruzeta Training

Gorka Guruzeta will spend the season on loan with Fuenlabrada (AC)

It’s been almost one year since Gorka Guruzeta was given the all-clear after recovering from a torn ACL. The injury came back in late April of 2019 and he was able to make his return in November. Needing minutes to recover his form and rhythm, Guruzeta spent the rest of the season with Bilbao Athletic but now he needs a stronger challenge to get back to his best football.

Staying with the Athletic first team this year would severely limit Guruzeta’s chances to enjoy consistent minutes. The young forward needs to be playing every weekend and the best way for that to happen is for Guruzeta to go out on loan.

A number of clubs from the Segunda have expressed interest in signing Guruzeta, including Kuko Ziganda’s Real Oviedo and Mirandés. A move to Real Oviedo looked to be the most likely switch, but that’s no longer the case. Instead, Guruzeta will be signing with Fuenlabrada for the upcoming season, per José Chozas of AS.

According to the report, Fuenlabrada have already finalized an agreement with Athletic and the loan move should be announced very soon. Fuenlabrada missed out on the promotional playoffs last season by one point and view Guruzeta as a player who will improve the attack. The most important thing right now is for Gorka Guruzeta to have regular minutes and the 23-year-old is confident that joining Fuenlabrada for the year is the best option to fight for his future at San Mamés.
