Gernika Winger Julen Lartitegi Signs With Athletic Juvenil A
Athletic’s youth teams are still waiting to begin preseason training (AC)
Athletic’s youth teams have yet to return to Lezama to start preseason training. The squads were originally scheduled to be back as early as 10 August, but the ongoing health concerns have pushed the dates back. After having their season’s cut short last year, the youth teams are eager to get back on the field and Juvenil A will have a new addition to the squad when training finally begins.
On Saturday, local Bizkaia club Gernika officially announced that winger Julen Lartitegi, better known as “Larti”, has signed with Athletic. The teenager will be joining the Juvenil A squad for the upcoming season and is so far the only outside transfer as the rest of the squad will be made up of returning players and those promoted from Juvenil B.
A tall forward with the ability to create chances and score goals, Larti will be a good addition to the squad and will challenge for a starting role in Imanol De La Sota’s side. Athletic’s Juvenil A team won their league title last year and will be looking to repeat as champions in the season ahead.
