Cristian Ganea “Eskerrik Asko For Giving Me The Opportunity To Be Part Of The Athletic Family”
Cristian Ganea’s time with Athletic didn’t go the way that he had hoped. After being signed from Viitorul in 2018, the Romanian had aspirations of challenging for a starting role at San Mamés, but instead made just two appearances before having his contract terminated just a few days ago.
Since leaving Athletic, Ganea had quickly found a new home. The 28-year-old has signed with Aris Thessaloniki in Greece and will be competing in the upcoming Europa League. Following his exit, Ganea recently published a special letter and tribute video to Athletic on his Instagram account, thanking the club, fans, and his teammates for support during his time in Bilbao.
Marcelo Bielsa said that anyone who leaves Athletic loses, but I prefer to tell you about what I have won in the time I have been a Rojiblanco.
I have repeated it a thousand times, and I have always felt this way: being lucky enough to play for Athletic has been to fulfill a dream for me. Although it didn’t go as I expected, I have nothing to reproach anyone for or anything to reproach myself.
All I keep are words of gratitude for those who have been by my side during this time, those who bet on me and my teammates who made me feel like family from the first day, not forgetting the people who work for the club, always ready to help and make your life easier, and not forgetting the press, who treated me with respect and affection.
I don’t think that the fans who approached me to encourage me or tell me that they wanted to see me on the field during all this time are aware of how much it helped me, and the strength that it gave me to continue working hard from the first day.
Eskerrik asko for giving me the opportunity to be part of the Athletic family. I came as a cub, and I feel that I left after becoming a Lion.
