Mirandés Closing In On Loan Move For Jesús Areso

Jesús Areso could spend the season on loan with Mirandés (AC)

Iñigo Vicente’s excellent season on loan with Mirandés has helped to strengthen Athletic’s relationship with the Segunda club. While Andoni Iraola may no longer be the manager at Anduva, Mirandés intend to sign at least one player from Athletic this summer to improve the team for the upcoming season. Several young players are set to leave Athletic and Mirandés have already identified their top target.

According to a report from Juanma Mallo of El Correo, Mirandés are closing in on a loan move for Jesús Areso who has been called up to spend the preseason training with the first team. With Ander Capa and Óscar de Marcos in the squad, Areso will have to leave in order to have regular minutes and prefers to join Mirandés as opposed to other interested clubs.

Recently promoted Logroñés are also said to be interested in signing Areso on loan, but the 21-year-old would rather spend the year with Mirandés. In addition, Mirandés are also monitoring Gaizka Larrazabal’s situation along with Ponferradina. Although Jesús Areso will spend the upcoming season on loan, he will likely be given ample time to train with the first team before leaving.

Jesús Areso joined Athletic from Osasuna in the summer of 2017 and has spent the last three years with Bilbao Athletic. The young defender has made impressive strides in his development and has shown the potential to become an important first team player in the years ahead.
