Clubs Lining Up To Sign Unai Vencedor On Loan

Unai Vencedor hopes to earn a place in the first team this summer (AC)

Unai Vencedor is one of the most hyped players to come through Lezama in recent years and looks poised to become a star at San Mamés. Last season the 19-year-old made his debut in a loss to Osasuna and will spend the preseason under Gaizka Garitano with hopes of earning a permanent place in the squad.

With the departures of Mikel San José and Beñat the team will be needing other midfielders to step up and take their places. For now, everything points to Vencedor having a role in the squad for the upcoming season, but it’s not guaranteed. The former Santutxu standout must still prove that he deserves a spot.

If for some reason Vencedor is unable to convince the manager, clubs in the Segunda are ready and willing to take him on loan for the year. According to a report from La Rioja, Logroñés have already shown interest in signing Vencedor along with fellow Bilbao Athletic starlet Jesús Areso. Mirandés have also been linked with a move for Vencedor as well as several other unnamed clubs.

Both Logroñés and Mirandés are also said to be monitoring Gaizka Larrazabal who is expected to leave Athletic on loan this summer to have consistent minutes in the Second Division. While Vencedor’s place in the first team isn’t certain, there’s no denying the midfielder’s quality. In the years ahead Unai Vencedor has the potential to become a key player for Athletic Club.
