Yeray’s Season May Not Be Over Yet
When Yeray left the game against Real Madrid early in the first half it didn’t look good. The defender was seen grabbing his calf and after the match Gaizka Garitano admitted that he wasn’t optimistic the 25-year-old would play be available for the final games. The following day Athletic announced that Yeray had sustained a calf strain and that his season was over.
However, that may not actually be the case. Yeray’s recovery has gone much better than expected and there’s a chance that he could be cleared to play in the last game of the season against Granada, per Javier Beltrán of AS. I’m fact, there’s a chance that Yeray could be available to fave Leaganes on Thursday night.
Having Yeray available for the trip to Granada would be massive, especially if Athletic will be playing for Europe. For now, Athletic have to keep their focus on Thursday night’s match against Leganés where Yeray and Iñigo Martinez are both ruled out. Gaizka Garitano will have to choose between Mikel San José and Dani Vivian to partner Unai Núñez in defense.
