Yuri Berchiche, Ander Capa, And Beñat Miss Levante Match With Injuries
Athletic will most likely have to win all three of the remaining matches this season to qualify for Europe and it won’t be easy. On Sunday the Lions will travel to Levante for what should be a winnable game, but missing as many as four starters will make things far more complicated for Gaizka Garitano’s side.
Yeray has already been ruled out for the rest of campaign due to a calf injury. Unai Núñez will replace him in the lineup, but Garitano will have to make do without others as well. Both Yuri Berchiche and Ander Capa were left out of the squad after picking up adductor muscle injuries in the loss to Real Madrid. In the same game Dani García was shown a yellow card, his tenth of the season, and is suspended for the trip to Levante.
Beñat will also be on the sidelines as he continues to recover from a left hip injury. With so many absences Garitano only called up 22 players for the match, including starlets Unai Vencedor, Dani Vivian, and Jokin Ezkieta. At this point it’s unclear what the lineup will look like at Ciutat de València, but Athletic will need a solid performance from everyone on the field to take all three points back home to Bilbao.
