Dani García Suspended For Levante Match
Almost everything that could go wrong did go wrong on Thursday night at San Mamés. Yuri Berchiche was forced to leave the game early with a groin injury, Athletic conceded two goals in the second half to lost 2-1 to Sevilla, and a clear penalty was denied in the final minutes when Iñigo Martinez was pulled down in the box during a corner kick.
There was more bad news near the end of the game when Dani García was booked for a foul in defense. It was the midfielder’s 10th yellow card of the season which means that he will be suspended on Sunday when Athletic travel to face Levante.
García may not be the only one to miss the game. Yuri Berchiche could also be ruled out after being forced to leave the match against Sevilla early in the first half with a groin injury. The defender will undergo tests on Friday to determine the extent of his injury. Fortunately, Raúl García will come back into the team after serving his own suspension in the loss at San Mamés.
