Bilbao Athletic Top Logroñés 1-0 In Friendly At Lezama
Bilbao Athletic and Logroñés were two of the best teams in all of Segunda B this season. Logroñés may have finished at the top of the table, but Bilbao Athletic won the only meeting between the two 3-1 back in November. Now both sides are preparing for the upcoming promotional playoffs with hopes of moving up to the Segunda next year.
In preparation for the tournament, Bilbao Athletic hosted Logroñés earlier today at Lezama for a friendly match. The Kumeak won 1-0 with Nico Serrano scoring the game’s only goal. It was a good showing from Joseba Etxeberria’s side, but the most important thing was for the players to start building a rhythm again after months of not playing football.
The game was divided into three 30 minute segments. Serrano split time between the right wing and striker positions during his segment on the field and was impressive. On the other hand, Ewan Urain made his return to the field after undergoing knee surgery back in December.
Bilbao Athletic will play their first round game on 18 July against Badajoz who will be a difficult opponent. Logroñés will also be in action on the same day against Castellón. The Kumeak will need to win three straight games to earn promotion and will be one of the favorites to go all the way with such a talented team and great coaching this season.
