Cristian Ganea Will Look To Leave Athletic This Summer
Cristian Ganea has returned from his loan with Viitorul and was back in training with Athletic at Lezama earlier today. The Romanian enjoyed a successful time away, but his days in Bilbao are numbered. Ganea is not part of Athletic’s plans moving forward and could soon be on the way out.
“He is going to join the group, but he isn’t going to play,” manager Gaizka Garitano explained when recently asked about Ganea’s return. “We have the group that we have and in that position are Yuri and Balenziaga.” Even if Garitano wanted to use Ganea it wouldn’t be possible.
As explained by Juanma Velasco of Marca, Ganea isn’t registered to play in La Liga for the remaining matches after 30 June. Because he is returning from loan in another country Ganea needs an International Transfer Certificate to be registered by Athletic. The certificate isn’t obtainable right now due to the current regulations in place.
Ganea is well-aware of the fact that he isn’t part of Garitano’s plans at Athletic. The 28-year-old has one year left on his contract and, according to Velasco’s report, will look for options to leave the club this summer.
