Yuri Berchiche Misses Training, Expected To Be Available For Real Madrid Clash
The Athletic players were given yesterday off following Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Valencia and were back in training at Lezama earlier today. As is usually the case, the starters went through a recovery session while the rest of the squad worked normally, but there was one significant absence.
Yuri Berchiche was missing from Friday’s session with no word from the club as to why. In this case no news seems to be good news as sources claim that the left-back is expected to be available for Sunday’s match against Real Madrid. Whether or not he plays remains to be seen.
Since joining Athletic Berchiche has been one of the best players in the team, making 72 appearances and scoring 8 goals. The 30-year-old celebrated two years at San Mamés yesterday where he posted a message on social media celebrating the anniversary of his return to Athletic. “I am where I want to be, living the best moment of my career,” he said. “We have been going for more than two years. The best is yet to come.”
