Peru Nolaskoain Taken To Hospital For Ankle Injury
Peru Nolaskoain has benefitted greatly from spending this season on loan with Deportivo. In just a short time the 21-year-old solidified his place in the lineup and has gone on to be arguably the best player for Deportivo. Next year Nolaskoain will be expected to fight for a place at Athletic, but for now he’s focused on finishing the campaign with Deportivo.
Deportivo were in action on Saturday in a big game against Rayo that would end in a 3-3 draw. The result helped Deportivo climb out of the relegation zone, but came at a price. Nolaskoain was taken off the field on a stretcher in the final minutes of the match with an ankle injury.
“I think Peru has a sprained ankle and is going to the hospital to have an x-ray,” manager Fernando Vázquez told reporters. “It’s too early to know the extent of the injury, but matches are so close that it’s normal for him to be out for several games.”
The fact that Nolaskoain had to be taken off the field on a stretcher and was immediately rushed to the hospital suggested that the injury isn’t merely an ankle sprain. Thankfully, Peru Nolaskoain soon took to social media where he said that the injury was just a big scare but nothing serious.
