Athletic Will Host Atlético Madrid On 14 June At San Mamés
Athletic will return to action in two weeks against Atlético Madrid (AC)
La Liga will officially return on 11 June. The remaining games this season will have to take place behind closed doors, but football is almost back. On Sunday the league announced the schedule for the next two rounds of game which will see Athletic take the field once again on 14 June at San Mamés.
The Lions will host Atlético Madrid on Sunday, 14 June, at 1:00 pm before traveling to Ipurua on Wednesday, 17 June, for a Basque Derby against neighbors Eibar. The following fixtures have not been scheduled at this point but clubs will have to play two games each week to finish the season as planned.
After choosing to postpone the Copa del Rey final until fans can safely attend the match, Athletic must now finish in the top seven of the league table to qualify for Europe. The Zurigorri currently sit five points off of seventh place with eleven games left to play. A total of 33 points are still on the line and Athletic will fight for Europe until the very end.
