Bilbao Athletic will be back in training on Monday (AC)

The season isn’t over yet for Bilbao Athletic. Although the remaining matches in the Segunda B have been canceled the promotional playoffs will still take place and Joseba Etxeberria’s side will have an opportunity to compete for a place in next year’s Segunda. The Kumeak will need to win three straight games to earn promotion and preparation will start soon.

Athletic announced on Saturday that Bilbao Athletic will return to training at Lezama on Monday. Etxeberria has called up a total of 18 players for the sessions which will take place at 5:00 p.m. each day in groups of three so as not to interfere with the first team.

Jon Sillero, Álvaro Núñez, Jesús Areso, Javier Murua, Oier Luengo, Aitor Paredes, Imanol García de Albéniz, Jon Rojo, Oier Zarraga, Unai Vencedor, Victor San Bartolomé, Antonio Salado, Beñat Prados, Juan Artola, Asier Córdoba, and Jon Morcillo will all report to Lezama on Monday along with Nico Serrano who has been promoted from Juvenil A. Aitor Seguin returns from loan with Barakaldo and will also train with the group to improve his physical conditioning.

Iñigo Baqué, Ewan Urain, Julen Bernaola, and Andoni Tascón are all still recovering from major injuries and will continue their rehab. The promotional playoffs are scheduled to start on 21 July and end on 28 July. CD Basconia will also compete in the playoffs for the Tercera and are expected to return to training at Lezama next Monday, one week after Bilbao Athletic.
