Athletic Renew Partnership Agreement With Danok Bat
Athletic’s partnership with other youth academies throughout the Basque Country has yielded incredible results, but none as much as the agreement with Danok Bat. Located not far down the road in Bilbao, Danok Bat regularly provide young players for Lezama and many have gone on to reach the first team.
A total of six current Athletic players originally came from Danok Bat. Iago Herrerín, Ander Capa, Iñigo Lekue, Unai Núñez, Yeray Álvarez, and Gaizka Larrazabal all spent time at Mallona before signing with Athletic. Iñigo Vicente, who has spent this campaign on loan with Mirandés, also spent one year at Danok Bat before returning to Lezama the following season.
Athletic aren’t the only ones who have benefitted from the partnership. At times Athletic have also sent players to Danok Bat who only play football up to the Juvenil A level. The two clubs have enjoyed a fantastic relationship over the years and on Saturday Athletic announced that the partnership agreement with Danok Bat has been renewed.
President Aitor Elizegi, Sporting Director Rafa Alkorta, Foundation President Juan Carlos Ercoreca, and Martín Urrejola who oversees relations with all partnered clubs were in attended for the renewal signing. The club did not provide any specific duration for the new contract with Danok Bat.
