Select Juvenil A Players Could Finish The Season With Bilbao Athletic And Basconia

The remainder of the Juvenil A season has been canceled. Due to health concerns youth football won’t return, which has resulted in Athletic’s Juvenil A team being proclaimed champions. Before the football stoppage, the Kumeak held a nine point lead at the top of the table with five games left but it won’t be the end for everyone.

As explained by La Cantera de Lezama, a number of Juvenil A players could finish the season with Bilbao Athletic and Basconia who will both be competing in promotional playoffs.

Nico Williams and Adrián Trespalacios are both registered to play with Basconia and, once training resumes, are expected to join the squad. Patxi Salinas has led Basconia to an impressive season with the team currently 4th in the table. The remaining Tercera matches won’t be played, but Basconia will compete for promotion against Sestao Rivero Portugalete, and Vitoria.

The rest of the Juvenil A players are not registered to represent Basconia, but are free to play for Bilbao Athletic. While it’s unlikely that any will actually see the field during the Segunda B promotional playoffs, some such as Nico Serrano are likely to join Joseba Etxeberria’s team for training once cleared to return to Lezama

Next season the vast majority of the Juvenil A squad will be officially promoted to Basconia where they will have their first experience as professional footballers. A select few, namely Nico Williams and Nico Serrano, could jump straight to Bilbao Athletic as they continue their path to first team football at Athletic Club.
