Plans are being made for the season to resume in Spain, but youth football will not return. On Wednesday the Spanish Football Federation released detailed guidelines for how the end of the campaign will be conducted, in which it was announced that the remaining games from the Juvenil level down have been canceled. This decision was made in conjunction with Ministry of Health and the Higher Sports Council.

As part of the decision, it has been determined that whichever teams currently lead the tables at the Juvenil División de Honor level will be named champions for the 2019/2020 season. This means that Athletic Juvenil A, Juvenil B, Cadete A, and Cadete B have all been proclaimed as champions. The Juvenil A team had a nine point lead over Real Sociedad with five games remaining before the football stoppage.

Juvenil A enjoyed an incredible season under manager Imanol De La Sota who returned to the club after departing in 2016. The Kumeak won 18 matches, suffering just 4 losses, and end the season with a +43 goal difference, the best in the group.

Nico Serrano led the team in scoring with 14 goals in 19 matches, followed by Iñigo López who found the back of the net 11 times. Unai Vélez played more minutes than anyone else, 2,201, while being the only player to feature in all 25 games this season. The vast majority of the squad will be promoted to CD Basconia next season, although Nico Serrano and Nico Williams could go straight to Bilbao Athletic.

Athletic Juvenil A would have qualified for both the Cope del Campeones and the Copa del Rey Juvenil, both of which will not be played. Unfortunately, because of this the team will miss out on next year’s UEFA Youth League.
