5 August Reserved As Possible Date For The Copa Del Rey Final
The only certainty right now is uncertainty. With the covid-19 pandemic having brought football to a halt there’s no real idea as to when the season will resume or if it even will. In the meantime, leagues are still trying to plan as best they can in hopes of the campaign being resumed and dates are being talked about with optimism.
According to the latest reports, both La Liga and UEFA believe the best case scenario would be to start playing games again on 6 June with the previous two weeks being used by teams for training. If so, the league would then be completed on 31 July. However, more conservative plans would see the league resume in late June and finish in the middle of August.
Apart from league matches, the Copa del Rey final is also a major topic of conversations. The Spanish Football Federation, along with Athletic and Real Sociedad, are determined to do everything possible to play the final with fans in attendance. Today, 5 August has been reserved by UEFA and La Liga as a possible date for the Cup final, although the situation is constantly evolving.
