Athletic Announce Partnership With 36 Local Women’s Youth Clubs Through 2023

Athletic’s influence in the growth of women’s football has been extraordinary. From hosting Femenino matches at San Mamés to adding more youth teams for young girls, the club has played a massive role in the advancement of the women’s game over the past few years. On Tuesday, Athletic took another important step forward.

The Basque giants have announced partnerships with 36 local women’s youth clubs which will help the development of young girls in the region and provide players for Athletic’s own teams as well. Most of the clubs have signed renewals, but there are a number of new partners and the agreements will run through 2023.

In total, 32 of the clubs are based in Bizkaia while two each are from Araba and Nafarroa. Representatives from many of the clubs were invited to attend the match between Athletic Femenino and Barcelona at San Mamés over the weekend. The 36 partnered clubs are as follows:
