Iñaki Williams Trains Normally After Leaving Sevilla Match With A Muscle Injury
There was immediate concern in Friday’s match against Seville when Iñaki Williams suffered a blow to the back of his leg. The striker, who was making his 138th consecutive La Liga appearance, was unable to continue and was seen grabbing his hamstring and limping as he left the field in the 72nd minute.
“It was a small blow,” Williams told reporters after the game. The 25-year-old didn’t seem overly concerned but muscle injuries, especially hamstring problems, can often result in significantly missed time. Thankfully, that doesn’t appear to be the case for Williams who was able to train normally with his teammates on Saturday.
Williams is expected to be held out of next weekend’s Copa del Rey trip to Sestao River out of precaution which will give him two weeks to recover ahead of the next league match against Celta Vigo on 19 January. For now, it seems as though Iñaki Williams has dodged a serious injury which is great news for Athletic with a stretch of very important games ahead.
