Athletic Begin Preparing For Crucial Trip To Sevilla
The holiday break has come to an end. After having the last week off, the Athletic squad returned to Lezama on Sunday for training and to begin preparing for Friday’s trip to Sevilla. Coming off of a big draw against Real Madrid, the team is eager to get another good result away from home and a win at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán could jettison the Basques further up the table.
Gaizka Garitano had nearly the entire squad at his disposal for training in front of many fans. Aritz Aduriz, who recently returned to the group, was present and may be cleared to travel with the team to Sevilla later this week. Meanwhile, Iker Muniain continued to work separately but is expected to rejoin his teammates soon. The pair could make their returns next week in the Copa del Rey match against Sestao River.
Gorka Guruzeta, Dani Vivian, and Jokin Ezkieta also trained with the first team on Sunday which has become a regular occurrence. The return of Oscar De Marcos will take longer following his recent ankle surgery. However, Garitano will have the rest of the team to choose from as Athletic seek their first win at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán in league play since November of 2011.
