Athletic Club Nets 6th Highest Television Revenue For 2018/2019 La Liga Season

Team Celebrate Alaves San Mames

Athletic Club have obtained €69.7 million in television revenue distribution (AC)

With 2019 just weeks away from coming to a close the La Liga offices officially released the television revenue distribution numbers for clubs on Thursday. This report lists the amount of television money paid to each club for the 2018/2019 season in which Athletic brought in the sixth-highest figure with €74.8 million in revenue.

Athletic’s television revenue increased slightly last season from the €73.2 million the prior campaign, though it’s also important to note that clubs must also pay fees which, in Athletic’s case, amount to €5.2 million. With this being the case, the club has officially obtained €69.7 million in income from television distribution. As of last season, television money accounted for 62% of the budget for the club.

The past two years have seen Athletic drop in the rankings, though only slightly. In 2016/2017 the Basques brought in the fourth-highest revenue and dropped to fifth in 2017/2018. Now sixth on the list, Athletic are followed by Villarreal who netted €69.1 million after paying their fees.

Athletic now trail Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid, Sevilla, and Valencia in the list. The gap between the top three clubs and the rest of the league is slowly growing smaller, however there is still a large disparity with Barcelona leading the league with €166.5 million in television revenue.
