Xabi Naveira Named Player Of The Month For Tercera Group 4
CD Basconia had a slow start to the campaign under new manager Patxi Salinas. The Basauritarras had just three wins entering November, but quickly began to turn things around with much better performances. Several players stepped up, both in attack and defense, though no one impacted results as much as Xabier Naveira.
The 20-year-old scored two goals in November and was a constant threat going forward. Naveira created multiple chances and was arguably the best player on the field during each of the team’s four games during the month. In recognition, the Lezama product was deservedly named the Player Of The Month for Spain’s Tercera Group 4.
Naveira is currently in his third season in the Tercera, although this is just his second year with Basconia due to spending the previous campaign on loan with Balmaseda. With 13 appearances so far, and having scored three total goals, it’s been a brilliant season for the 20-year-old who is making a case to be promoted to Bilbao Athletic in the summer. Xabier and his younger brother Unai also made history in the team’s 2-0 win over Sestao River by becoming the first set of brothers to score in the same game for Basconia.
