Kenan Kodro Returns To Training And Could Start Against Real Betis
Athletic were back in training at Lezama on Wednesday after having the previous day off and were strengthened by the return of Kenan Kodro. The striker had previously missed Sunday’s match against Granada with a muscle overload and, after working separately from the group on Monday, trained fully with his teammates today.
Kodro’s return comes at an important time as Athletic will travel to Real Betis on Sunday without Aritz Aduriz and Iker Muniain, who are both injured, as well as Raúl García who will miss the match due to suspension. Depending on whether or not Gaizka Garitano prefers to keep Iñaki Williams on the right wing, Kodro could be in line to start for Athletic at the Benito Villamarín.
Meanwhile, Cristian Ganea missed training once again as did Oscar De Marcos who is dealing with an ankle issue. The pair worked together in the gym while the rest of the squad were on Field 3 for Wednesday’s session. At this point it’s very likely that both Ganea and De Marcos will not be available for Sunday’s trip to Seville.
Athletic will spend the next three days training in private before leaving for Seville on Saturday. The Lions will be looking for their fourth straight win as they face off with Real Betis but it won’t be an easy fixture, especially considering the key absences in the squad. Regardless, Athletic have been in great form over the past month and are confident that they can bring all three points back home to Bilbao.
