Iñaki Williams, Raúl García, And Kenan Kodro Return To Training Ahead Of Granada Clash
Three Lions have been in a race for recovery this week with a massive game against Granada looming on Sunday. Iñaki Williams, who has been dealing with a cold, spent the week training apart from the group and was even sent home by the medical staff on Thursday. After breaking Carmelo Cedrún record for most consecutive games played in La Liga there’s been concern that the striker could miss this weekend, but that won’t be the case.
Williams returned to normal training on Friday and, although he looked like someone who has been battling a cold, he will play against Granada. The same is true for Raúl García and Kenan Kodro. García avoided a groin injury against Granada but didn’t train fully until Thursday as well. The 33-year-old spent the week adding more to his workload each day and will be expected to start on Sunday.
Kodro, on the other hand, has spent the week recovering from a muscle overload and was the third member of the trio, along with Williams and García, who trained separately from the rest of the team. Like his teammates, Kodro also returned to normal training on Friday and will be available which is important considering the fact that Aritz Aduriz is still sidelined with a hip injury.
There was never any doubt that the three forwards would be able to play this weekend, but concern grew with each passing day that they weren’t in training. At this point only Aduriz and Iker Muniain will miss Sunday’s game. Athletic will be back in training on Saturday at 11:30am in a private session as Gaizka Garitano will finish preparing the team to host Granada at San Mamés.
