Raúl García Expected To Be Available For Sunday’s Match Against Granada
No news means good news. When Raúl García left Sunday’s match against Osasuna at halftime there was immediate concern. With Iker Muniain currently nursing a hamstring injury the potential loss of García would be very difficult for the team to overcome.
At the time, García was seen favoring the right side of his groin which suggested some form of muscle injury. However, Athletic never issued a medical report on the 33-year-old. As expected, García missed Monday’s training session at Lezama and, once again, an update was not provided by the club.
Luckily, it appears as though García has avoided a major injury. According to an exclusive report from Javier Ortiz De Lazcano of El Correo, García underwent medical tests on Monday which indicated that he should be cleared to play in this weekend’s match against Granada.
García is said to have simply dealt with discomfort which, thankfully, wasn’t a sign of a more serious issue. With the players having Tuesday off he will have at least one more day to rest but will be watched closely throughout the week. Never one to take risks with injuries, Gaizka Garitano will be the one to make the final decision but all signs point to Raúl García taking the field at San Mamés on Sunday.
