Raúl García Injured In Win Over Osasuna
With Iker Muniain injured Raúl García wore the captain’s armband for Athletic as he made his return to El Sadar. For the fourth straight game the 33-year-old started the game at striker and appeared to have scored the opening goal just eight minutes into the match. However, a questionable VAR review ruled the goal offside.
García continued to cause problems for Osasuna throughout the first half, both in the attack and as a leader for Athletic, but was surprisingly unable to complete the game. When the players came out for the second half García was already changed and seen limping while favoring his groin. Kenan Kodro took his place on the field and would end up scoring the winning goal.
The fact that Athletic has yet to issue any medical report could possibly be taken as good news. There’s a chance that the forward could have only been removed out of precaution but that remains to be seen. Athletic will likely provide an update on Raúl García condition when and if he undergoes tests on Monday in Bilbao. Losing the García for any length of time would be challenging with Aritz Aduriz and Iker Muniain currently injured as well.
