Athletic Announce Collaborative Agreement With Mulier FCN
Athletic have long been one of the pioneering clubs for the growth of women’s football. From hosting a match at San Mamés to introducing lower level youth teams, the Basque giants continue to promote women’s football and are serious about making improvements in many different wats. This week, the club took another big step forward.
On Thursday, Athletic announced a collaborative agreement with Mulier FCN from Navarre. Previously the women’s team for Osasuna which was dropped in 2014 following the men’s relegation to the Segunda, Mulier was established by a group of parents, coaches, and a player to continue the project.
As the first all-female football club in Navarre, Mulier is composed of five teams from the Juvenile level to the first team and currently boast a total of 92 players. Mulier currently compete in the Primera Nacional and will now be linked to Athletic for the foreseeable future. President Eva Blanco, Vice President Cristina Páez, and other members of the Mulier board were in attendance for the collaboration announcement along with Athletic Femenino Sporting Director Joseba Aguirre, Juan Luis Fuentes, and Óscar Beristain.
