Aritz Aduriz Donates Shirt Worn During Goal Against Barcelona To Childhood Cancer Research
Aritz Aduriz has scored many big goals throughout his career, several of those coming against Barcelona. However, the 38-year-old’s bicycle kick against the Catalans on the opening day of the season could very well go down in history as one of his best. The strike lifted Athletic to a 1-0 win over the reigning champions and will long be remembered as an absolute stunner.
Despite his enormous success at Athletic, Aduriz has always prioritized others over himself. The striker has been involved with charities for many years and recently donated the shirt he wore while scoring the goal against Barcelona. Aduriz gave the shirt to EiTB Maratoia for auction benefiting childhood cancer research with the winning bid coming in at €1,200.
An Athletic fan named Eduardo Álvarez won the shirt after raising the bid several times and received it from Aduriz who included a personal autograph. “This is the shirt I played in on the day against Barça,” Aduriz said. “I hope that together we can help those children who need it so much. For my part, I will also try to bid at the auction. We are going to work together for all.”
The EiTB Maratoia auction included over 200 items donated from people, athletes, and celebrities from the Basque Country with the goal of raising more funds for the research of childhood cancer.
