Iñigo Vicente Starting To Find His Rhythm With Mirandés
Iñigo Vicente is destined for stardom at San Mamés. The starlet has been one of the most promising players to come through Lezama in recent memory and was given the opportunity to train with the senior squad over the summer. Due to the need for regular playing time, Vicente was sent on loan to Mirandés this season and is finally starting to find his best form in the second division
Going into Saturday’s match, Vicente had made 9 appearances for Mirandés. In his limited minutes, which included just four starts, the 21-year-old registered two assists but was once again named to the lineup against Extremadura. Vicente was determined to make the most of the opportunity and did just that at Anduva.
It would take Vicente just 23 minutes to open the scoring for Mirandés with a composed finish in front of goal, his first in the Segunda. The winger was arguably the most dynamic player on the pitch and caused constant problems for the Extremadura defense. Vicente would then provide the assist for Alvaro Rey early in the second half to make it 2-0 which would hold until the final whistle.
With each match Vicente has shown improvement and growing confidence. For a player who has admitted that he always suffers at first when moving up a level, the starlet is starting to show his quality. Training under Andoni Iraola is an added bonus and if Iñigo Vicente continues to play at a high level he could earn an important role at Athletic next season.
