Nico Serrano has established himself as one of the most promising attacking players at Athletic and in all of Spain. The 16-year-old, who joined Lezama last summer from Villarreal, is an electric winger with the ability to create chances and score goals and has been regularly called up during international breaks. There’s no doubt that Serrano has been one of Spain’s best players over the past few months and he showed his quality once again in the team’s clash with Chile on Friday.

Spain U17 hosted the South Americans at Pinatar Arena where Serrano opened up the scoring after just three minutes of play. Chile answered back in the second half when Joan Manuel Cruz equalized but the game wasn’t over. Serrano would go on to score his second goal of the game two minutes into stoppage time to seal an impressive 2-1 victory for the Spaniards.

England, the reigning U17 World Cup Champions, will visit Pinatar Arena on Monday in what will be a challenging match for Serrano and his teammates. From there, Spain will continue preparing for the upcoming U17 World Cup which will take place in Brazil from 26 October through 17 November. Nico Serrano is expected to be in the squad for the tournament which will be a terrific experience and opportunity to continue his development.
