Andoni Tascón Expected To Miss Salamanca Match With Muscle Injury
Bilbao Athletic have had a difficult start to the season and injuries are a big reason why. The Katxorros managed a big win in the opening match over newly-promoted Haro Deportivo without Ewan Urain and Juan Artola, but the excitement didn’t last long. Joseba Etxeberria’s side then drew with Calahorra before falling 5-2 to Cultural Leonesa over the weekend in a dismal showing.
The biggest issue in the loss to Cultural was a lack of options in attack. Not only did Urain miss his third straight game with a knee injury, but Andoni Tascón was also unavailable due to muscle discomfort. The absences saw Asier Cordoba start at striker with Jon Morcillo also featuring in the position. Without a true forward to lead the line the Kumeak found it extremely difficult to create chances in the final third.
Etxeberria will once again be without Ewan as Bilbao Athletic host Salamanca this weekend and Tascón is expected to miss out as well. The 21-year-old has yet to return to training and sources claim that Basconia’s Ruben Azcona will likely be called up for the match. Bilbao Athletic currently sit 11th in the table, three points off the top, and will be looking for a bit win at Lezama to quickly get back on the right track.
