Hodei Oleaga “I Will Fight For Melilla To Go Up”
It’s been a challenging summer for Athletic to find loan partners for their young players. Goalkeeper Hodei Oleaga has known for over a month that he would be leaving for the season, but a deal wasn’t reached until earlier this week. The 22-year-old has joined UD Melilla in the Segunda B and told reporters that he hopes to help the club fight for promotion this year.
“It’s a very good proposal”, Oleaga said about signing with Melilla. “This is a team that always fights for promotion and I will fight for Melilla to go up. Many great goalkeepers have come from Lezama. There are several at the club and we have to fight outside. I have to work every day and contribute. I will work to give my best on the field and repay the confidence that has been placed in me.”
Oleaga went on to admit that it hasn’t been easy to wait for a loan move to happen. Once the offer came in from Melilla he knew it would be the right destination to continue developing.
“It’s been a complicated time because we have been looking for a move for a month. When Melilla came we thought it would be a good move to a good team. I’m glad to be here. I’ve been playing at this level for two years. I haven’t played as much as I would like, but I can provide protection in the air, tranquility, and safety.”
The club and fans of Melilla have welcomed the Oleaga with open arms and he hopes to play a big role in the team while on loan. The goalkeeper is expected to start in Saturday’s match against Celta B in Vigo.
