Raúl García “You Have To Value This As A Positive Point”
Raúl García scored the opening goal against Getafe just six minutes into the game, but it wasn’t enough for the Lions to secure all three points. The hosts were able to equalize just minutes later and the two sides kept each other from creating chances for the rest of the match. Speaking with reporters after the game, García acknowledged that a draw was still a good result.
“We knew what we were going to find. We are both organized and don’t like to give up chances. It was a complicated match. Getafe had the same system last year and the team responded well. We came with the idea of winning but you have to value this as a positive point. It was important to score first. Now we will look to win at home on Friday.”
There was a bit of drama when an Athletic header in the box struck the arm of a Getafe defender. “I had the feeling that his arm was extended, but it wasn’t given”, said García when asked. The play was not reviewed though some believe it should have been. Picking up at least one point against Getafe was always going to be difficult and now Athletic will turn their attention to Friday’s Basque Derby against Real Sociedad.
