Athletic Announce September Friendly Against Toulouse
Over the past few years, Athletic have made it a regular practice to play at least one friendly match during international breaks. The club believes it’s best to keep the team in a rhythm and fitness up and it doesn’t seem as though there will be any change moving forward. The first stoppage of the season will come after next weekend’s Basque Derby against Real Sociedad and Athletic have already lined up an opponent.
On Thursday Athletic announced that they will face off with Toulouse in friendly action on 5 September. The game will be played at the Stade Didier Deschamps, the home of Aviron Bayonnais who are one of Athletic’s partnered clubs in the French Basque territory of France.
Having an international break just three weeks into the La Liga season is difficult for every club. Athletic hope that playing friendlies will keep the team strong while also having the time to build on success and improve important areas. Being able to visit Bayonne will also give the Basque giants the opportunity to strengthen relationships in the areas and reach fans.
