Friday’s 2-1 win over Sporting saw Athletic Juvenil A advanced to the final of the 39th annual Trofeo Villa de Laredo. The Kumeak would await Saturday’s winner between Racing and Alavés to find out their opponent with Racing booking their place in the championship game as well. It would be a challenging match but Athletic put in yet another impressive performance.

After just 12 minutes Athletic were awarded a penalty. Nico Williams stepped up to the spot and beat the keeper to give the Kumeak an early 1-0 lead. Just before the half-hour mark, David Hernandez would strike to double the lead as Athletic began to take full control of the match. Racing were able to pull a goal back in the second half, but it wasn’t enough to mount a comeback as Athletic won the title with a 2-1 victory.

Juvenil A have yet to lose a game this summer and will play four more friendlies before kicking off the season with a trip to Multivera. With one of the strongest squads in Spain, the Kumeak will be one of the favorites to win their league and make a deep run in the Copa del Rey.
