Iñigo Vicente Will Reportedly Leave Athletic Club On Loan
Gaizka Garitano has refrained from talking about the players who will be leaving the club in order to lighten the squad, but a few names are already clear. Cristian Ganea and Andoni López have been informed that they will be sent on loan and offers are already being fielded for Hodei Oleaga. Peru Nolaskoain is also expected to leave and the list will continue to grow throughout the week.
According to a report from Jose Manuel Monje of Onda Vasca, Iñigo Vicente will also be leaving on loan and has already been informed by Garitano. A plethora of clubs in the Segunda have expressed interest in the starlet, as well as a handful in the Primera. With so many offers on the table, Athletic will look to send the 21-year-old somewhere that will guarantee regular minutes and the chance to continue developing.
Many fans were hoping to see Vicente stay with the first team this season and he’s clearly shown that he has the quality to do so. However, with Iñigo Córdoba and Iker Muniain standing in his way, Vicente wouldn’t be given many chances were he to remain in Bilbao. Leaving on loan is likely the best way for the Lezama product to keep improving as a player and be able to play every weekend to prove that he deserves a place in the team next season.
As far as the other youth players are concerned, Dani Vivian and Oihan Sancet are expected to split time between the first team and Bilbao Athletic this season. Gaizka Larrazabal is the only one who has been promoted and guaranteed a place in Garitano’s squad. New signing Jokin Ezkieta will spend the year with Bilbao Athletic and be available to the first team if the need arises.
