Gaizka Garitano Calls Up 30 Players For Athletic’s Trip To Germany
After two weeks of training at Lezama, Athletic played their first preseason friendly on Saturday defeating Arenas Club 6-1 at Fadura. It was a great opportunity for the Lions to stretch their legs before embarking on their yearly training trip abroad. Athletic will be leaving for week-long trip to Germany on Sunday and Gaizka Garitano has announced the 30 players that will travel.
Only three players were left out of the squad. Andoni López is expected to leave on loan, Gorka Guruzeta is still recovering from ACL surgery, and Hodei Oleaga will be returning to Bilbao Athletic. Interestingly, Cristian Ganea will make the trip after it appeared as though he would stay behind while the club negotiated his loan to a club in the Segunda. Unai Simón and Unai Nuñez have both returned from vacation and will start their preseason in Germany.
The squad that will travel to Germany is as follows:
Goalkeepers: Iago Herrerín, Unai Simón, and Jokin Ezkieta
Defenders: Unai Núñez, Iñigo Martínez, Yeray Álvarez, Yuri Berchiche, Iñigo Lekue, Oscar de Marcos, Ander Capa, Mikel Balenziaga, and Peru Nolaskoain, Dani Vivian, and Cristian Ganea
